Academic Excellence
We are all university students, our education is the reason why we are here. To better ourselves in order to gain a more prosperous future. That is where Sigma Alpha Zeta comes in, we work together to help all sisters succeed academically.
At a minimum of 15 study hours plus group study hours, we make sure no one falls behind. A great plus is when a sister has taken the same classes, that you need to take, and are always able to help. On several occurrences sisters take the same classes so they can become each others study buddies for any homework or upcoming exams.
Sigma Alpha Zeta also has an Academic Advisor, Thelma Chavez. Thelma has been our Academic Advisor since 2003 and she continues to do such a great job in helping direct the girls on their academics, and what classes to take. When it comes to our education we take it seriously 110% of the time, sisters of Sigma Alpha Zeta Sorority Incorporated always strive to be empowered leaders.

Sisterhood
Sisterhood is a rich tradition that defines a sorority. It’s the unbreakable bond shared by the members of the organization that set us apart from just a regular club. The bond of sisters is something of strength after joining Sigma Alpha Zeta this sisterhood within the sorority will be one to cherish.
Our members become life long friends, even best friends. They become each other’s bridesmaids, roommates, godmother’s, or just simply someone to confide in. Through your college years, the bond of sisterhood is only strengthened as you gain more sisters. Every person has a unique story to offer, a different point of view, we cherish and encourage growth as individuals.
Our pursuit of higher education is the basis of our bond. Not only will you have a safety net here at San Diego State University, but joining Sigma Alpha Zeta gives you a sisterhood that stretches from Northern California to Southern California. A bond that lasts a lifetime - one that can’t be explained from the outside, only understood from the inside - is one of the many benefits that Sigma Alpha Zeta can offer.

Community Service
Sigma Alpha Zeta is a multicultural sorority that prides itself on our many accomplishments as a group from doing community service as an individual to group hours - giving back to the communities that have supported us and have allowed us to continue expanding our sisterhood.
Every semester our chapter gathers together for various types of community service events that are fun and helpful to our society. One community service event that we participate in every spring is the Greek Week Service day. Each year the type of service changes, but it always sheds a positive light on the Greek community. All 4 Greek Councils (USFC, IFC, Panhellenic, NPHC) come together for a week of Fundraising, community service and creating bonds between all four councils.
Other community service events we participate in, include feeding the homeless, cleaning up local beaches, helping at breast cancer walks, or helping out at the Chicano Park Festival. There is no limit to the types of service we can participate in, and each year we decide to expand our horizons more and more and look for newer and more positive activities to immerse ourselves in.
